#CEODiary The Importance of Self-Care

Hey Future Founders and CEOs!!

What a week this has been for me. It’s been raining in Los Angeles (crazy, right?) and I haven’t been feeling well. I haven’t even told my mom this, but I’ve been feeling faint sometimes. I felt like I was going to pass out twice this week. Once at work and once while operating one of the cameras at Thursday night service at church. I had to step away from the camera while service was still going on to get fresh air and water. I’ve never fainted in my life so feeling like that is new for me. Therefore, I’ve been catching up on rest and analyzing my diet. I have not been drinking enough water nor have I been sleeping enough. Some days I’d sleep maybe 4 hours, wake up at 4:30am, workout and be drenched in sweat, then only drink about 50oz of water that day. Not good.

Self-care is extremely important. We can’t do anything if we don’t take care of ourselves. Grinding, hustling, sacrificing, etc is all good until your body tells you it’s not. You need sleep. You need water. You need a healthy balance of work and play. I’m figuring out what my healthy balance is on a daily basis.

What do you do for self-care? Are you mindful of how much water you drink? Are you sleeping enough? What’s your diet and workout schedule? Comment below or email me at . I’d love to hear from you.

#CEODiary My Business Website is Done!

Happy Holidays fellow future CEOs!!! I hope everyone ate all the food they wanted for Thanksgiving. I know I did.

My business website is done!!! I’m so excited. I decided to design it myself using WordPress’s Premium plan, which grants me more templates, ways to edit my website, and most importantly “WordPress” will NOT be in the domain link. That was very important to me as I think having a professional website is the first step to gaining credibility from potential clients. Thanks to Black Friday sales, I purchased the premium plan 30% off (around $60+ for a year). Other website hosts would have cost me around $200 😰

I also figured out how to forward email addresses. I haven’t purchased an email service that will allow me to have an official email that ends with my company’s name, BUT I have it set up where if you email it will forward to an email address I have. The only disadvantage is when I respond to the email it will show up as my gmail address and not A minor issue that shouldn’t hinder me from gaining clients but I will one day fix by purchasing an email service.

My living room table is now my desk (instead of the place I stored all my mail because I never ate there anyways). I set it up just like my desk at work. One day I’ll get a more comfortable chair that doesn’t roll but the wobbly chair I built that came with this table will do for now.

Next Steps:

I’ll design and order business cards from VistaPrint now that I have a logo, website, and email address.

More importantly, I’m spending December practicing my services so don’t be surprised if that page on my website changes. I’m working towards being able to take clients by January 2019. 🙏🏾

Let me know what you’ve done lately to help build your business in the comments below.
