Hey fellow/future CEOs! I hope you are having a productive 2019 so far. As for me… eh… productive in some ways.
Quick Update: I’m going to start offering bookkeeping as a service for my company! I’m a Staff Accountant by day so it makes sense to do it for my own company. I’m hoping once I build a relationship with my clients, I can up-sell them on my financial analysis services. Also, I ran a special and offered FREE services from my company MDW Financial. I paid for an Instagram ad and hoped anyone owning a small business would notice it and email me. Unfortunately, I didn’t receive any emails regarding my ad… not one. This is when I admitted that marketing is not my strong suite.
I’ve worked for a company that provides marketing research for major movie/production studios and a company that makes advertising for major brands via social media content creators. So I know the importance of marketing and advertising, yet I somehow thought I could just put up 1 Instagram ad and gain clientele. Me… the person who is hardly posting on my personal social media accounts (except for Twitter…I love Twitter).
I’m now looking into paying for marketing for my company. I’m so glad I went to school (Jackson Public Schools) throughout my life with people doing big things now. I already know someone who does marketing, Jessica Simien, and just set up a complimentary consultation on her website (click her name to go to her site).
I know some of you are thinking, “I’d love to pay for someone to run my marketing, but I need extra funds to comfortably pay for it.” Me too…me too. I’d rather not reach into my savings account so I found a way to make extra income on the side, Upwork! You can set up a profile, describe the service you offer, and set your own price. Then, you can search for jobs and bid. You can search by the amount of hours you’re available as well. I’m so excited to start freelancing on the side. It’s really going to help me invest in my company’s growth and gives me an opportunity to build relationships with other business owners.
What are you doing to help grow your business? How have you gained clientele and marketed your company? Let me know in the comments below.
