#CEODiary My Business Website is Done!

Happy Holidays fellow future CEOs!!! I hope everyone ate all the food they wanted for Thanksgiving. I know I did.

My business website is done!!! I’m so excited. I decided to design it myself using WordPress’s Premium plan, which grants me more templates, ways to edit my website, and most importantly “WordPress” will NOT be in the domain link. That was very important to me as I think having a professional website is the first step to gaining credibility from potential clients. Thanks to Black Friday sales, I purchased the premium plan 30% off (around $60+ for a year). Other website hosts would have cost me around $200 😰

I also figured out how to forward email addresses. I haven’t purchased an email service that will allow me to have an official email that ends with my company’s name, BUT I have it set up where if you email info@mdwfin.com it will forward to an email address I have. The only disadvantage is when I respond to the email it will show up as my gmail address and not info@mdwfin.com. A minor issue that shouldn’t hinder me from gaining clients but I will one day fix by purchasing an email service.

My living room table is now my desk (instead of the place I stored all my mail because I never ate there anyways). I set it up just like my desk at work. One day I’ll get a more comfortable chair that doesn’t roll but the wobbly chair I built that came with this table will do for now.

Next Steps:

I’ll design and order business cards from VistaPrint now that I have a logo, website, and email address.

More importantly, I’m spending December practicing my services so don’t be surprised if that page on my website changes. I’m working towards being able to take clients by January 2019. 🙏🏾

Let me know what you’ve done lately to help build your business in the comments below.
